Maybe you don't have to hide the cursor, just make it stay where it was before. After one releases the button, the cursor jumps back to where it was before. One small thing, though: Whenever one pushes a mouse button and then moves the mouse (which will move either the camera or the character and the camera, depending on which mousebutton one took), the cursor doesn't simply vanish (as it does originally), but jump to the center and "jiggle around".
